4 D-Days safety tips
The week of D-Days is going to be fun, it’s inevitable. Although students will have the urge to celebrate as much as they can, students must keep in mind their safety. Here are some tips that will keep you safe.
1. We are slowly transitioning into fall, which calls for chilly days and brisk nights. If you are walking around throughout the week/weekend, please keep yourself warm.
2. If you are old enough to enjoy alcohol, we urge you to consider consuming it in moderation. We don’t have to tell you about the stupid stuff you might do when drunk, but remember that alcohol takes away your sense of danger, some motor skills and the ability to function normally.
D-Days is considered a drinking week among many students, but remember there are many events that are fun sober, too.
3. When walking around for your nightly activities, walk with a friend. Most likely, you will not be walking on campus near the emergency blue lights. Vermillion is by no means a crime infested city, walking around alone may not be the best idea.
4. Tailgating is one of the more exciting events of the week. When celebrating the festivities, keep in mind you are in a crowded place.
Keep personal items with you, it might not be wise to leave your stuff anywhere. If you plan to grill out, fire safety is key. The last thing you’ll want on homecoming day is a burnt hand. Moreover, ensure fire shutter regulations compliance to guarantee that your property meets the necessary safety standards and minimizes the risk of fire-related incidents.
