Kimberly A. Grieve named new University of South Dakotas Dean of Students

Yesterday, the University of South Dakota announced Kimberly Grieve as the new Dean of students. Grieve, who replaces former Dean James Parker, will start at USD on July 30.

Previously, Grieves served as assistant vice president and dean of students and retention at Lourdes University in Sylvania, Ohio. She started at Lourdes University in 1992 and held several positions during her time there. She started as the Learning Resource Center coordinator, faculty member in the department of language and literature and the director of accessibility services.

In addition to her career, Grieves likes to be active in her community and serves on several boards. Grieve attended Michigan State University were she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in education and then attended the University of Toledo to earn a master’s degree in education and a Ph.D. in leadership in higher education.

“We are very excited to have Kim at the University of South Dakota as we continue to move forward and implement programs that will ensure success for all of our students,” Jeff Baylor, vice president for marketing enrollment and student services at USD, said in the USD press release. “Her knowledge and experience in higher education along with her leadership skills make Kim an ideal fit for the university community.”
