People of the Pack: Katie Larson
Katie Larson is a sophomore criminal justice and psychology major from Sioux Falls.
Sara Cappiello: How was your first week back at USD?
Katie Larson: It was nice to see my friends but getting back into the swing of classes was a little stressful. I wasn’t expecting all my classes to be on the same day but it’s still good.
SC: What did you miss about USD over the summer?
KL: I missed seeing all of my friends and getting to hang out in the MUC and just talk to people.
SC: How was the transition from summer back into school?
KL: It was pretty easy. The only thing I had to worry about was getting used to going to class again.
SC: What are you looking forward to this year?
KL: I’m excited to meet new people in my classes and actually getting the hardest classes I have out of the way. I have some harder classes this year. I’ve met some freshman through being in band.
SC: Would you consider yourself organized or more scatterbrained?
KL: I’m generally pretty organized but some days I just have a bad day and everything just goes out the window.
SC: How do you stay focused and motivated in classes?
KL: I’m always taking notes and staying engaged. I always make sure my phone is face down so I don’t get distracted by notifications.
SC: What do you wish you knew as a freshman?
KL: The MUC is open super late and you can actually stay here and study if you need to. Also, you should be a part of things and get involved, otherwise you miss out on so many good opportunities.
SC: What is the best part about going back to school?
KL: Having the chance to get decent coffee every day and seeing my friends, I’ve missed them.
