Freshman Nate Robinson decides to step away from USD basketball
USD freshman Nate Robinson has decided to step away from the men’s basketball team after appearing in 18 games for the team this season, Jay Elsen of Midco Sports Network first reported on Twitter Tuesday morning.
@CoachLeeUSD confirms that Nathan Robinson has asked for and received his release. Robinson appeared in 18 games for the Coyotes during his freshman season, averaging 1.6 points and 1.3 rebounds per game.

Robinson averaged 9.8 minutes per game this season. He scored 29 points on 6-of-43 shooting (14 percent) and 1-of-26 from behind the arc (3.8 percent). He played 21 minutes against Purdue-Fort Wayne on Jan 30., where he scored a season-high six points. The 6-foot-4-inch guard out of California averaged 21 points a game his senior season at Las Lomas High School.
Robinson was a member of the Great Britain U18 National team at the European Championships in 2017. He averaged seven points as the team won the Silver Medal. His best performance of the tournament was an 18 point game against Albania.
Robinson plans to continue playing, whether that is at another university or professionally.
“Nate came to me after the season and said he felt that it was in his best interest to look to play basketball at another university or professionally,” head coach Todd Lee said. “He is trying to decide what is best for his future. Nate is a very nice young man and we wish him the best of luck in the future.”
