Vermillion Fire EMS responds to fire at Norton Hall
Vermillion Fire EMS was called to Norton Hall Monday afternoon for a small fire on the first floor of the hall.
The sprinkler system was set off and the hall was being evacuated as the Fire Department and University Police arrived. There was an active fire on the first floor when responders arrived. Fire personnel extinguished the fire after ensuring all residents were out of the hall.
A press release from the Fire Department stated there were no injuries during the incident.
After putting the fire out, all four floors of the hall were ventilated and students were able to return to the hall around 6 p.m. The resident whose room was the source of the fire was put in temporary housing. All other residents have been able to return to their rooms.
The cause of the fire is still being investigated.
