USD sweeps Oral Roberts and North Dakota, extends shutout streak to four games

The Coyotes claimed 12 straight set victories with road wins against Oral Roberts and North Dakota, improving their win streak to 18 games.

USD at Oral Roberts

USD traveled to Tulsa, Oklahoma on Friday and defeated the Golden Eagles (6-17) in a three-set sweep (25-22, 25-19, 27-25).

Freshman Elizabeth Juhnke led USD with 16 kills, sophomore Maddie Wiedenfeld collected 10 and junior Sami Slaughter and senior Elizabeth Loschen each provided eight.

The Coyotes managed to get 62 digs, 51 kills and 49 assists in the match.

43 of those assists came from sophomore setter Madison Jurgens, who now has 2,061 career assists, making her the seventh Coyote to pass 2,000.

Senior Anne Rasmussen tallied 20 digs for the match, helping hold Oral Roberts to a .152 hitting percentage.

The win pushed USD to 20 wins for the season, the third time in six seasons they have achieved 20 wins under head coach Leanne Williamson.

USD at North Dakota

The Coyotes defeated the Fighting Hawks (10-14) in Grand Forks, North Dakota on Friday, making USD (10-0) in the Summit League with an overall record of (21-1).

Juhnke tallied 15 kills and a .419 hitting percentage, followed by freshman Madison Harms, Loschen, and Wiedenfeld each with six kills.

As a team, the Coyotes posted 50 digs, 39 kills with a .252 hitting percentage.

Senior Anne Rasmussen contributed 13 digs while Jurgens had 10 along with her 30 assists. She is now top 10 in Summit League history with 1,772 career digs.

The Coyotes will travel to Nebraska on Friday to play Omaha and return to Vermillion to face Denver on Sunday at noon.
