Good season for undead walkers
Being an avid fan of the zombie apocalypse, I needed something to sustain my interest longer than your average “Night of the Living Dead” movie.

Unexpectedly, then came AMC’s announcement to air a television series of the same name to be based on Robert Kirkman’s zombie comic book series “The Walking Dead,” beginning in October 2010.
Fast-forward to today and “The Walking Dead” has managed to win and be nominated for 48 numerous awards, including a Golden Globe nomination for best television series drama. Recently the season three premiere shattered basic cable television ratings in the coveted 18-49 age demographic, and accumulated a total of 10.9 million viewers. Yet, some may be asking themselves, how does a series about zombies manage to do so well?
The answer is simple; this series dares to push its viewers to the edge. The series creates a realistic cinematic experience laid out in television format and the suspense and drama it creates leaves you at the edge of your seat, nervously anticipating more. The character you think will make it to the end may wind up a zombie’s dinner, which makes every episode very unpredictable.
Season three begins with a group of survivors led by sheriff deputy Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) finding a prison heavily infested with “walkers,” the show’s nickname for zombies. The team manages to take back the prison yard from the undead and decide to make it their new home.
In this season, the group will have to make amends after losing important group members Dale Horvath and Shane Walsh. They will also have to deal with Lori Grimes’ (Sarah Wayne Callies) pregnancy, while fighting off the dead and newly anticipated antagonist, the Governor (David Morrissey).
For me, the second season seemed to be more about the tension of the relationships between the characters, and for the lack of a better word, was slow. However, with the concluding episode of last season and the first few of this one, there seems to be a ton more zombie killings. For any fan of the zombie genre, the zombie killings are what make the show. I am anticipating a lot more dramatic sequences, and with the unexpected twists that this show takes, I don’t know who will be the next to be killed off.
