BLOG: Christmas
This is my countdown to the countdown to the countdown … oh well, I’m excited for Christmas, if you get where I’m going with this.
There’s nothing I love more than holiday movies, hot cocoa and Bing Crosby singing Christmas carols. While my favorite holiday is a tie between Halloween and Independence Day (I like scary things and blowing stuff up), Christmas comes in as a close second.
I realize it’s a little early to get excited, but the Midwest was created for this time of year. The fall is short and sweet, leaving the next four months of snow and ice that are perfect for curling up with a cup of tea by the fire and staring dreamily into the lights of a Christmas tree.
My family can be annoying, just like any other family, and I’m not sure how spending an entire month trapped in the confines of my childhood home will be, but I’m optimistic. Every year my house is decorated to the extreme and tends to look like a scene out of a Martha Stewart catalogue. The tree is lit to perfection with every light evenly spaced and the decorations are scattered throughout the house, but never too gaudy.

I enjoy assisting in the decorating process while listening to Christmas music almost as much as I love Christmas Day itself. There’s something magical about creating a beautiful little world filled with flickering candles, pine needles and the occasional angel or nutcracker.
For those people out there who think it’s too early to get excited for the “most wonderful time of the year,” you’re wrong. To each his own, but I am proud to say that I’ve already watched “Elf” once and have been guzzling hot tea for weeks.
