Summer-style bucket list
This summer it’s time to mix things up a bit. Strut your way out of those homework/deadline/finals blues and into enjoying the summer while sporting something out of the ordinary for you.
Here are 10 outfits or additions every girl should try out this summer. Think of it as a summer style bucket list:
- Wear a bow in your hair. It provides instant girliness to any outfit.
- Keep the sun out of your eyes with one of those fabulous oversized sun hats and discard your classic, go-to sunglasses. Instead, reach for a fun pair — wear heart-shaped, colored or cat-eyed sunspecs.
- Pull out the heels from your closet, if only for the weddings you attend. P.S. It’s OK to pack some flats in your purse to jitterbug or conga the night away at the reception.
- Paint your fingernails — I’ll have this one checked 24/7 — in a pastel color, whether it is a baby blue or pink, lavender or mint. Spend an afternoon trying out fun designs with the summer shades.
- Be bold and daring for a few days with a temporary hair color in a pink shade. For those of you with internships or jobs, it may be best to try this on the weekend.
Guys:
- Ladies swoon when guys pull out the khaki shorts, but why not try out a different color in that casual, yet quickly “stylish” bottom. Without going too far out of the comfort zone, a nice navy or slate gray can easily work as neutrals to summer T-shirts or those absurd “bro tanks.”
- Switch up your footwear. I’m here to say it is OK if you want to wear flip-flops on those sizzling summer days spent at the lake, but choose wisely. If you are looking to impress someone special, make sure those heels aren’t looking like the Sahara and nails are well manicured. I’m not saying you have to go out and get a pedicure, but you don’t want to scare someone away.
Cut this out of the paper, hang it up and cross these things off as the summer wears on. If you tire of this list or even if you choose not to use this as a guide, I encourage everyone to simply change his or her look up a bit.
Have fun with the summer trends and don’t be afraid to try something a little different.
