Editor’s Column: Take your place in ‘Yote Nation
As you officially begin your journey at ‘Yote Nation, The Volante is here to help. Within this issue, you will find everything you need to know for your first year of college at the University of South Dakota.
With a letter from USD’s own president, the do’s and don’t’s of your first year, tips for the hard times and advice from our staff, everyone is on your side — the university wants you to succeed.
Of course, the Volante doesn’t stop with the freshmen guide. Throughout the year we provide you with the most up-to-date news. We are your go-to news source, and we strive to be the first to provide necessary information pertaining to you and the university.
The Volante is constantly striving to move forward and innovate in order to fit your needs. This year, that meant a newly designed website and a mobile-first mindset.
We hope you take advantage of the site at volanteonline.com by frequently checking for breaking news, regular updates and fun and interesting stories about your fellow ‘Yotes.
You are now a part of a legacy bigger than yourself, but it is important to remember that your story still counts. Join a group on campus or an outside organization. Take as many classes as you can, or simply find your niche among friends.
Take your place in ‘Yote Nation, and begin crafting your own story. Don’t be afraid to fail, but push yourself to succeed on a daily basis. These next four years are yours — make them great.
