Fatal Mitchell Apartment Fire Ruled Accidental
MITCHELL, S.D. (AP) — Mitchell authorities have ruled fatal apartment fire as accidental.
The Daily Republic reports ( ) that investigators believe the blaze early Thursday morning was caused by a candle.
Authorities say t18-year-old Tylor Kostrzewski died in the fire. He was a student and the Mitchell Technical Institute.
Authorities say Kostrzewski was a Kimball native and lived on the second floor of the three-story house that was converted into apartments.
The building’s five other occupants escaped the fire, but two were taken to a hospital for smoke inhalation and burns.
