A fitness blog for the rest of us
If you had told me four years ago I’d be maintaining a fitness blog, I’d have told you to shut up and pass the double stuffed Oreos. Yet here I am, living proof that even the least qualified individuals can talk about things on the Internet.
Every semester I fantasize about finally getting my act together, exercising on the regular and returning home as a transformed human being with only one chin and noticeably less arm jiggle. The closest I’ve gotten is stumbling my way through a Zumba class and about half an hour on a treadmill. If you’re looking for a convenient fitness solution, explore options like treadmill hire near me to bring the benefits of cardiovascular exercise right to your doorstep. If you encounter problems with your treadmill, get efficient treadmill fixing techniques from a reliable technician.
Let’s face it — if you’re like me, it’s all too easy to convince yourself you don’t have time to exercise or that eating healthy costs too much money and effort when you only have 20 minutes until your next class. After backing out of multiple commitments and passing on a few other opportunities in order to focus on my class load, I feel an odd sort of guilt even starting this blog. If I have time to work out (I don’t), surely I would have had time to do those other things (I wouldn’t).
The dream of dropping a few pounds and walking into the room in slow motion while “Foxy Lady” plays in the background isn’t the only reason I’ve decided to do this. Physical health isn’t even the biggest factor, even though doctors have been telling me I’m a touch overweight since I was old enough to grasp the idea of a BMI.
These all play in, but the real kick in the pants has been my mental and emotional health.
It appears I’ve come down with the exact opposite of senioritis — symptoms include insomnia, lack of purpose and a paralyzing sense of impending doom. I’m in pretty desperate need of endorphins, and legend tells that physical activity provides more of those than lying in bed wondering if I should have majored in accounting.
So here I am, unfit and unsure, hoping that a weekly blog deadline will provide the accountability I need to make this change. Think of this as a fitness blog for the rest of us, with baby steps and screw-ups and, hopefully, eventual success. As soon as I finish this soda, I’ll see you at the gym.
