Vermtown Bash rocks downtown Vermillion

Grey skies and cool temperatures didn’t stop the fun at the Vermtown Bash Oct 8. The activities in downtown Vermillion rolled on as the chance of inclement weather became more prevalent.

The Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity, among other student groups from the University of South Dakota, was responsible for overseeing a couple sections of the kid-friendly activities, including a game of bean bag toss and an inflatable jungle gym.

The fraternity advised Vermtown Bash goers to have a sober ride and not drink and drive for the upcoming weekend of homecoming. Pi Kappa Alpha also wanted to make sure USD students enjoy the homecoming football game on Saturday.

As the night went on, the corner of Prentis and Main was full of music from the Battle of the Bands concert.

Nick Burke was the first musician to approach the stage. Burke was a one-man band with an acoustic guitar strapped on his shoulders and a kick drum by his feet.

The second band to take the stage was No Way Jose, aptly named after singer and guitarist Jose.

The band played their set of modern hits covers when the sky started to spit rain, moving the concert to the Old Lumber Company Grill and Bar.
