Halloween Whopper starts comical buzz on social media
By now you have probably seen the advertisements for Burger King’s “Halloween Whopper” – 0r maybe you have even tried it yourself.
And if you have no idea what I’m talking about, open up any social media platform and search #HalloweenWhopper – it is sure to give you quite the scare.
Now through Nov. 1, customers can order the “deliciously dark” Halloween Whopper. It’s the same burger, just served on an A.1 Steak Sauce black bun in light of the Halloween season.
The company issued a statement about their Halloween Whopper to ABC News saying that the flavorings and dye “are commonly used in the industry and within the safe and Acceptable Daily Intake (ADI) approved by the Federal Food and Drug Administration (FDA).”
I wasn’t sure that I wanted to try this Halloween Whopper for myself, so I found someone that had tried it.
Senior Andrew Kost enjoyed the Halloween Whopper.
“It looks a little unsettling, but honestly, tastes about the same as the regular Whopper. If you eat it, be prepared because it does have a weird side effect,” he said.
After I got feedback from someone about the Whopper, I went to Twitter and searched #HalloweenWhopper and had quite the laugh as I scrolled through tweets. What I found out about this Halloween sandwich was quite interesting.
@KyleSerba tweeted: “Maybe Burger King should bring the Black Whopper back for St. Patrick’s Day? #GreenPoop”
@TesstifyBarker tweeted: “The black whopper turned peoples’ poop green and now I think I am done with food forever.”
The tweets go on and on. Some customers were actually looking forward to trying the Halloween Whopper just to see if this #GreenPoop phenomenon was true.
I’m not sure which is trending more, the #HalloweenWhopper or the #GreenPoop hashtag. Just a side note, I would not suggest searching #GreenPoop on Twitter. That’s all I will say about that.
@MarieHorselamp tweeted: “don’t rly care how it tastes, I just want that Halloween burger from @burgerking for the rad green poop.”
I had a very hard time finding tweets about the Whopper that did not mention #GreenPoop. After much time scrolling through Twitter, I found a few tweets. They aren’t quite as exciting as the #GreenPoop tweets, though.
@CP_MFlowers tweeted: “#beforeidie I want to try the new #HalloweenWhopper from @BurgerKing. Hope it is scary good!”
@katenel tweeted: “I had my first #HalloweenWhopper and I thought it was delicious. Can we get pink buns for Valentines @BurgerKing?”
Burger King’s Halloween Whopper is a big hit this Halloween season and is certainly receiving a lot of publicity.
