Cartoons outweigh live-action shows

When I was a child, I always liked watching cartoons, which is pretty normal for a kid.

My sister and I would watch Disney movies all day on VHS, and when we weren’t watching movies, we would watch PBS kids.

Nowadays, I still watch the same stuff, and I’m 19-years-old.

The reason I still watch? I’ve learned to appreciate cartoons and anime more than movies or television shows with real people.

I have many reasons to back this up. First of all, animation is a lengthier process than live-action, unless there are special effects involved.

Anyone can see that in an animation studio, time and effort is put in with a team of skilled animators. They go scene-by-scene to make it all flow nicely.

Cartoon shows are also amazing since they are put out sometimes once a week with a new episode that may be only 12 minutes in length but probably took many hours to produce.

Second, cartoon characters are usually funnier and have amazing voices.

Any animator can create a character based on their wildest imagination, in exact replica, which really can’t be done with real people. Anyone can act the part, but what about looking the part exactly as imagined?

Voice acting is also versatile. I have favorite voice actors and don’t really have any favorite “real people” actors.

Voice actors have such talent depending on what they do. They can change their tone or style of voice just for a certain part, and they get really into their character. Just because they are not tangibly on-screen, I can still feel their passion through their strong character.

I have also died laughing way more times watching cartoons.

Another reason I enjoy cartoons and anime is because many of the cartoons I watch all have random stories and characters that are really creative.

It’s no surprise that animators gets creative with their plots or characters. They make some of their characters humans, but then they personify animals and make them do everyday human things which can be fun for children. This also a nice surprise because humans actions can get really boring.

Another reason I love cartoons more is because I can relate more to the characters.

I don’t know about many people, but I have a connection to a cartoon character that cannot be compared to any “real person” character. Daria Morgendorffer from “Daria” is basically me. Just because a character is not real means nothing, since shows are about feeling something and relating to the characters.

Finally, the last reason I love cartoons is because the characters are more realistic. In live-actions shows, I’ve noticed that there are unrealistic characters based on not only their personalities, but even their looks.

People get more creative with cartoons by adding imperfections, making their bodies both fat or skinny and also making them more diverse.

So, despite the simple fact that I like cartoons, and I may be a child at heart, I can also take time to appreciate the beauty of cartoons.
