People of the Pack: Tuyen Do
Tuyen Do is a first-year student studying computer science from Vietnam.
Devin Martin: What are your plans for winter?
Tuyen Do: Stay warm. I want to learn how to ski. But in Vermillion we don’t have a mountain. So (I’ll) try and ask somebody to see if they can give me a ride (somewhere).
DM: What made you want to learn how to ski?
TD: I come from Vietnam and we didn’t have snow in Vietnam, so it’s just my first time here and I just had the idea to learn how to ski.
DM: You said you’re from Vietnam, so what made you want to come to USD?
TD: The first reason is that the tuition is cheap for international (students). But the environment here (is also) really good. Fresh air and it’s so silent in a small town and it’s good for study. The downside is there is nothing to do.
DM: What do you like to do in your free time?
TD: Read books. The library is my second home.
DM: What hobbies do you enjoy?
TD: The nature here is amazing. The Vermillion River, the park, hanging out with my friends and I like cooking.
DM: What is your favorite Vietnamese dish to cook?
TD: Eggroll. You have some mint and the other stuff in the middle. The rye paper on the outside and you will have fish sauce.
DM: Being from Vietnam, what advice do you have for international students and people of your home country who want to study abroad?
TD: It just depends on the major… I like to be here to study.
