In the latest U.S. News and World Report’s “Best National Universities” list, USD ranks 249 in the country in the “Best Colleges 2021” list, higher than any other public university in South and North Dakota.

USD also sits higher in the “Top Public Schools” list, coming in at 121. USD jumped up 14 spots in the “Best Colleges 2021” list.

The U.S. News and World Report’s Best College lists are compiled by comparing 17 different measure of academic quality at bachelor’s degree-granting schools.

“It is an honor to be among the nation’s best universities in this year’s U.S. News and World Report listing,” USD President Sheila Gestring said in a press release Tuesday. “This recognition is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our faculty and staff and the achievements of our students.”

Schools in the National Universities list offer undergraduate, master’s and Ph.D. programs. USD has been placed on the list of “Best Natioanl Universities” for 29 consecutive years.
