Being a part of the Howling Pack

The Howling Pack is USD’s main foundation for athletic funding. The purpose of the organization is to support all athletic programs and athletes during their time in college.

There are tiers to the Howling Pack memberships. It builds up from coaches club, captains club, red club, silver club, gold club, platinum club, diamonds club, presidents club and the top being great expectations.

Mark Wendt has been a member of the Howling Pack since 2007 and has a Captains Club membership.

“I started out simply being a fan and it was just a desire to be more a part of it, have some skin in the game,” Wendt said.

Each member has certain benefits and perks that grow in amount with your donation. All members do receive 10% percent off at the Coyote shop, recognition on Goyotes.com along with other various perks.

“I receive free tickets to soccer and softball and special parking for football and basketball,” Wendt said.

Right now, due to COVID there are no events for the Howling Pack to help raise money for all athletic programs, Wendt said.

Wendt never went to USD, nor did any of his family. He became a fan to oppose his Jackrabbit family.

“It’s taking that next step from being a fan to actually having a little skin in the game and being a part of it,” Wendt said. “And, you know, feeling like you contributed in your tiny, tiny way to the success they’re having.”

Wendt, along with his yearly donation, helps spread the word and tries to recruit new members. He lets them know the benefits and that it is just eight dollars and thirty three cents a month.

“For me personally, it’s not about getting into the Dome Club or the CoreTrust Club or special parking. It’s just, being a part of, in whatever small way I can being a part of the team and the student-athletes and helping them. That’s what I enjoy about being in the Howling Pack,” Wendt said.
