Muenster University Center Unveils New Look
While summer vacation began for students, the Muenster University Center (MUC) underwent renovations for a new appearance at the beginning of the 2025 fall semester.
One of the biggest changes seen in the MUC is the Charlie’s store taking the place of Einstein’s Bagels. The new retail store includes many new features, such as a dressing room and office.
However, the interior of the space was given a fresh look with new flooring, paint, countertops, etc. In addition, the HVAC and electrical systems were upgraded to ensure long-term use.
Another highlight of the MUC’s renovations was the opening of the Center for Career Design (CCD). The purpose of this add-on was to give students the opportunity to explore careers, and participate in planning for post-college life.
The CCD offers a classroom, kitchenette, and a conference room specifically designed for career design programming. This upgrade also included new HVAC and electrical systems, along with new flooring and paint.
A key feature in the CCD is the brand new alumni mentoring program, which allows current students to connect with former coyotes for tips and insights for their future.
Scott Pohlson, Vice President for Enrollment, Marketing and University Relations and Student Services, said, “Our primary goal was to elevate student support—especially around career readiness—by creating a dedicated space for career exploration and design. We also reassessed how retail space was being utilized, noting that sales at our downtown location outpaced those on campus. This led to a more efficient use of space that still maintains retail access while supporting expanded dining operations.”
The motive behind making the changes this summer was to better utilize space in the MUC
With Einstein no longer being a part of the MUC, Sodexo has added other breakfast items to the Starbucks location, as well as RISE AM, which includes breakfast burritos and sandwiches.
“All dining decisions are made in close collaboration with Sodexo and campus administration, but student feedback is the driving force,” Pohlson said.
“Sodexo conducts regular dining surveys, and we also engage student leaders and SGA in these conversations. These insights help us align our offerings with evolving student preferences and campus trends,” said Pohlson.
