Faces to Know: Erik Muckey
The University of South Dakota has many great faces around campus. From the Student Government Association to the Faculty members and USD President, these are important faces to know for future help and for general conversation. James Abbott, Kim Grieve, Erik Muckey and Clay Hoffman not only play important roles on campus, they also serve as another friendly face at USD.
USD SGA President Erik Muckey
What he does:
“I’m the leading advocate for students to faculty, administration, the (South Dakota) Board of Regents, the governor, state government and school governance. I represent every student at USD in different capacities. What that means practically is — I’m the leader of SGA, but by being that, I serve as a student representative. I lobby for students.”
”My role is to hear the concerns of students to hear what’s going well and what’s not going well. On a daily basis, I’m taking care of student government issues and student issues that can be brought to different realms of faculty and administration.”
What’s new this year:
“An overlying goal is to make the USD experience better for all and make all feel welcome. If there’s anything I can do in my time here, it’s to build a better student experience, whether through the Division-I tradition or by thinking about the things that will make students feel more welcome. My number one goal is to make the student experience better while I’m here.”
