People of the Pack: Jonathan He
Jonathan He is a sophomore from Rapid City, SD majoring in sport media and marketing.
Cheyenne Alexis: Are you involved in anything at USD?
Jonathan He: I’m in a fraternity — Delta Tau Delta. I’m also in the climbing club. Other than that, not too much.
CA: Why did you decide to join a fraternity?
JH: It’s a really good way to interact with other people that you don’t know. Especially coming into your first year, you don’t know as many people. It kind of gets you all these options to talk to other people, get to know people, become a brotherhood.
CA: What do you like about USD?
JH: I really like how everyone’s friendly here. You can talk to anyone, say “hi” to anyone and they’d smile back and say “hi.” I think if you’re in the other universities, they’d kind of just shrug you off because they’re too good for you. I like the closeness.
CA: What are your career goals?
JH: I want to become a media person for an NBA team. Which, I know is going to be a lot of hard work, so I’m just kind of going through the motions, trying to get internships and trying to get as much experience as I can.
CA: What do you like about sports?
JH: I just like the whole aspect of sports. I’m a really big basketball fan — I’ve been playing basketball since I’ve been growing up. I just fell in love with it. I’m more of a sports guy compared to academic-wise, so I thought this would be the best major for me.
CA: How has college benefitted you?
JH: I really like it. When I came in, I knew it was going to be a lot of hard work, and I was actually really scared because I took a year off and I wasn’t sure if I was going to do anything. I visited here and I was like, “This might be something that I’m interested in,” and I decided to come here.
