Thanksgiving is Better Than Christmas
Next week is my favorite week of the entire year. Why, you may ask. Because Thanksgiving is the best holiday of the year. I understand that there are some Christmas fanatics that I may offend by saying this. Certainly Thanksgiving does not have the same lead up and month-long season like Christmas does. Don’t get […]
Vex And The Verm – A Column: An Ode to My Father
Since I can remember I have been a “mama’s boy,” both self-proclaimed and stated. Every Saturday I would go out to eat with her and my aunt, and afterward, the three of us would spend the rest of the day shopping. As brutally honest as it may sound, my […]
Movie Review: Family Cares for Each Other, No Matter What
A Real Pain was a surprising film for me as until about a few weeks ago I had never even heard of it due to a severe lack of advertisement for the film. The film is directed by actor Jessie Eisenberg who in recent years has become more involved in cinema than just acting with […]
Lightning Strikes Backstage
There are a lot more people involved in a play than just the actors on the screen. To make a production run and smoothly there is a whole team behind the scene. “The Lightning Thief” the USD’s Theatre department’s next show, is contemporary, but involves many fantasy themes and is a musical adaptation […]

It’s that time of year. One doesn’t even have to look around to see that almost everyone is sick. I have just gotten over this after what felt like weeks of coughing and pain. Unfortunately, I’m being plagued with a new sickness. Homesickness. It all started after I watched a video […]

Movie Review: A Smile is Contagious…
The original “Smile” by Parker Finn movie was one I put off watching until just recently when I was preparing to see its anticipated sequel. The movie focuses on a paranormal curse that causes those afflicted by it to experience visions of people smiling eerily at them causing their minds to question what […]

PAVE and ICARE Collaborate one Events for Domestic Violence Awareness
The month of October is nationally recognized as Domestic Violence (DV) Awareness month. In honor of victims of domestic violence, ICARE, alongside PAVE (Promoting Awareness Victim Empowerment), have been working hard to further educate students and faculty members at various events on USD’s main campus. “ICARE collaborates with other groups on campus by providing workshops/training, […]
Dakota-Days Number of Arrests Down
With unusually warm temperatures for the 110th Dakota Days, arrests were unusually low compared to previous years. From Thursday evening to Sunday morning, the Vermillion Police Department booked 26 individuals into jail. Most were released within two hours. According to Clay County Sheriff Andy Howe, there were 55 charges against those 26 individuals arrested. Howe […]
